This presentation equips estate planning attorneys and allied professionals with practical guidance for incorporating crypto assets into modern estate plans. Attendees will learn the key differences between self-custody, exchange custody, and institutional custody; common planning mistakes that can result in lost or inaccessible assets; strategies for drafting more effective estate plans involving crypto assets; and best practices for working collaboratively with financial advisors, trustees, fiduciaries, and tax professionals. The session emphasizes practical, real-world planning techniques that help clients preserve and successfully transfer crypto assets across generations.

About Our Speaker:

Jon Henderson, CFP®, CRPC®, CBDA, is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Echo45 Advisors, where he has helped individuals and families navigate complex financial decisions for more than 25 years. He specializes in comprehensive wealth management, retirement planning, trustee services, and integrating investment, tax, and estate planning strategies.

Recognizing the need for a more integrated family office experience, Jon also founded Echo45 Tax and Estate, which brings tax preparation, estate planning, and wealth management together to help clients protect their assets, plan their legacies, and facilitate the transfer of wealth to future generations.

About the Program

Every advisory team around a family enterprise succession has legal counsel, financial advisors, and often a business valuator. But few have someone whose role is to address what the family has left unspoken.

When a succession transition stalls, the instinct is often to revisit the documents, the valuation, or the plan. But what if the plan was never the problem?

In this session, Stephanie Zenker, succession dynamics specialist and member of the Purposeful Planning Institute, will explore what changes when a succession dynamics specialist becomes part of the advisory team.

You’ll learn:

What a succession dynamics specialist does—and does not do—within an advisory engagement
When and how to bring this role into the succession process
How to define scope, engagement points, and boundaries
How to position the addition with a client so it strengthens the advisory team rather than suggesting something was missing

Stephanie Zenker is a succession dynamics specialist serving multi-generational family enterprises. Her work focuses on surfacing what a family has left unspoken and putting it in front of them—without prescribing what happens next.

Her background in quality management, including experience as a certified SQS auditor and EFQM Business Excellence coach, informs her approach. She sees the family enterprise structurally, not clinically: looking for where the system breaks down and what may be preventing the transition from moving forward.

Based in Los Angeles, Stephanie brings a distinctive perspective to the succession advisory team.
